We’re very excited for the Los Angeles special screening of the film at the Director’s Guild of America. This is the Platinum Gala at Outfest, LA’s gay and lesbian film festival. Please join us afterwards for a party hosted by Wildness at Silver Platter. Arthur’s collaborator Lola Love will be present with son Kenn Michael (aka Kenny Blank) who also collaborated with Arthur. Edinburgh is awesome! I hiked to the top of a grassy mountain and this picture was taken at the castle. Come to our screenings– tonight June 26 at 9:30 and Saturday at 9:15 both at Filmhouse 1. Go here for tickets: http://www.edfilmfest.org.uk/films/wild-combination-a-portrait-of-arthur-russell/
I’ll also be on a panel on Friday the 27th at Traverse Bar 1, 6:00 about Documentary: The Facts and Fictions. Hope to see you there!
We’re in San Francisco this morning, getting ready for the screening and party on Saturday night. Thinking about Arthur roaming around town in the 1970s at the Kala Segundo commune being bossed around by the Reverend Warwick, meeting Allen Ginsberg in a park, taking Indian music classes in Marin at Ali Akbar.
Come to the Roxie at 9:45 on Saturday June 20th (almost sold out! tickets available at frameline.org) and then stay out late at Cafe Flore (Market and Noe) for a party hosted by the SF DJ Collective Honey Soundsytem. Johnny Ray Huston wrote an awesome review of the film in the SF Bay Guardian. Check it out here. Come say hi!

Come see us in the DC area at Silverdocs on Tuesday June 17th at 6:30 and Wednesday June 18th at 9:00 at the AFI Silver Theater. Matt will also be on the panel, “Rock The Doc: Music Docs,” moderated by Felix Contreras with panelists from the films ALL TOGETHER NOW (Adam Wills) and THROW DOWN YOUR HEART (Sascha Paladino and Béla Fleck) on Tuesday June 17th from 5:30 - 6:30 at the Discovery Communication HD Theater. Tickets and directions: http://www.silverdocs.com
In a week the June tour begins– first at SILVERDOCS in the DC area, then FRAMELINE, the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and then off to the EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for the UK premiere of the film. There’ll be a big party in San Francisco, panels in DC and Edinburgh– details to come. We hope to meet you in one of these cities.
Matt won’t be able to attend, but we’re excited for the screening in Minneapolis at the WALKER ART CENTER, and the special Australian premiere of the film at the SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, as the “underground” program, where DJs Ben Drayton and Trash Vaudeville will perform after the screening.
The weekend at the Kitchen was a huge success and a great celebration! Thank you to everybody who came out to the film, the party, and the great nights of music.
Artforum has a great recap of the weekend’s events. Check it out here. And Dan Selzer, who DJed the awesome afterparty with Jeremy Campbell at Heathers has a recap here.

We’re excited to show the film in Toronto on Sunday May 18th. Come to the Royal Ontario Museum for a 5:15 screening. It’s part of the Inside Out Festival. Buy tickets here. Then join us for an afterparty at the Beaver. Joel Gibb (Hidden Cameras) and Matt will be DJ’ing with Gillisandro70, responsible for that incredible Kiss Me Again cover.
The awesome Andy Beta wrote an in-depth piece in the Village Voice about Arthur’s rediscovery and the film. On his blog he published transcripts from our conversation a few weeks ago. Check it out here:

We’ve heard from tons of people who unfortunately didn’t get tickets for the Kitchen. Not to worry– the film will be back in New York. More news on that is coming soon. But in the meantime, please join us at Heathers Bar on East 13th near Avenue A for an Arthur Russell listening party hosted by DJs Jeremy Campbell and Dan Selzer.
